It’s good to see some positive comments on the blog and it’s also good to see I am not the only one who feels racing on a Monday needs to be revised.
I really believe the people who need to be looked after the most are the fans and at the end of the day V8 Supercar should be catering to them.
With a few comments posted I thought the majority of this week’s blog could be used to respond to your comments.
Mac: I agree it is very hard to wait a month between races and if it were up to me and outside factors such as costs weren’t involved then I would be out racing every weekend, but unfortunately that is not feasible.
Pretty soon we will have three rounds within six weeks when we move from Darwin to Ipswich to Winton and that should see the teams firing on all cylinders.
I have actually been thinking a bit about how long periods of time between races effects us as drivers or teams. I can’t be totally sure, but I believe while the guys in the team love it because they get longer to prepare the car it may have a negative impact on the drivers.
In sports such as rugby league, soccer or Australian rules football, time away often impacts on performances and I think it may on ours as well. When our races are closer together, the qualifying times are often closer throughout the field, whereas after a long break the field is more spread out.
I also think four week breaks in the season can be a real momentum killer and where we can we need to find a consistent period of time between races.
Robbo: I completely agree with your sentiments about keeping the long weekend in play but scrapping the Monday race and I wonder whether the long weekend could be better used to hold a round in Perth, Darwin or Queensland where people tend to go for holidays anyway.
Eddy: You summed up your feelings in a blunt manner and at the end of the day you are right, they control when we race and there is little we can do to change it.
Soft Spot: Thanks for your support. If you were a Lansvale fan all those years ago then you must like the livery on Cam’s car as I believe it is similar to the old Lansvale cars.
There has been a bit of news over the week in motorsport including Marcos Ambrose attempting to qualify for his first Sprint Cup race in NASCAR. It’s good to see Marcos doing well over there.
He is as hard a competitor as anyone on the track and it will be interesting to see how his NASCAR career continues to develop. It’s a format I would love to have a go at one day but whether that happens or not is another kettle of fish.
Audi won Le Mans last night which was pretty cool as most people thought Peugeot would dominate the race this year. Once the rain came it seemed to play into Audi’s hands and Tom Kristensen who made himself an 8 time winner of the event, which I believe is a record,
I spent a bit of time watching my 14-year-old cousin Macauley go around in his Go Kart at Wodonga over the weekend and he performed well finishing 4th in both the junior light and junior heavy categories.
Today is actually Mish’s birthday and I want to wish her a happy birthday here and hope she is having a great day. It’s just three weeks until ‘Nacho’ is due so we’re both very excited.

Hi Andy!
Thanks for the comment and Happy birthday to Mish!
Are you goin to have a birthday party in your Team BOC office?
I hope you post some photos of the birthday party.
See you!!
Andy, wow, what a nice blog! To respond to commenters is a very nice thing to do and it’s that sort of thing that builds loyalty. I speak from experience as 2 drivers have claimed my loyalty in similar ways in the past. Good on you.
